Our Pre-K students are learning all about the letter P! We are practicing recognizing the letter P, making its sound, and naming words that begin with this special letter.
Our 4th-grade classroom transformed into a hospital for a special, hands-on celebration of Small Steps: The Year I Got Polio from our ELA Unit 1: Personal Narratives!
Students brought their learning to life as they rotated through engaging activity stations, playing Operation and Candy Land, creating paper accordions, picking up marbles to simulate rehabilitation exercises, building parade floats with LEGOs, learning how to draw a milkshake, and ending the day with a delicious milkshake treat!
Through these creative experiences, students connected with the text, explored the power of personal narratives, and discovered how experiences can become meaningful memories. By making learning interactive, we helped turn reading comprehension into an unforgettable experience!

Today, we celebrate three extraordinary ladies who go above and beyond every single day to make Tar Heel School a clean, safe, welcoming, and beautiful place for our students and staff. Today at Tar Heel School, our 7th-grade Social Studies students stepped back in time to experience history in action!
Our teacher became the King, complete with the royal crown, while students took on the roles of scribes. They experienced firsthand how difficult and time-consuming it was to copy messages by hand—and how much control a ruler could have over information.
Then came the big question… What happens when a machine can produce hundreds of copies of the same message?
THE PRINTING PRESS!
Through role-play, collaboration, and historical analysis, our students are learning that history isn't just something you read about—it’s something you can experience!

Today, we want to give a HUGE shout-out and special appreciation to Mr. Bobby, Tar Heel School’s Athletic Director!
We received a wonderful compliment from an Athletic Director from a neighboring county who took the time to recognize Mr. Bobby for the way he welcomed and supported their team. From making sure they had water and drinks to offering a ride to the bus, Mr. Bobby went above and beyond to make sure our visiting team felt welcomed, valued, and taken care of.
Mr. Bobby, thank you for representing Tar Heel School with such professionalism and kindness. Your actions made an impression, and we are proud to have you serving as our Athletic Director!
